Looking Back: A Typical Day in High School for the Author

R.H. Hawley: Hey Dan, how come you weren't in math class today?
Dan: I got sent to the Principal's office.
R.H. Hawley: What happened?
Dan: I got in some sort of trouble.
R.H. Hawley: What did the Principal say to you?
Dan: I got the "R.H. Hawley speech".

R.H. Hawley: Oh, you must have really screwed up.

Dan: Yeah I did. He pointed to your picture on the wall and said if I don't change my ways, I was going to wind up like you.
R.H. Hawley: That's my boy! Give me five up top (i.e. high five).
